Welcome

Greetings fellow Forza fans, and welcome to my Forza Motorsport commentary. These pages are accessible only from the Forza Motorsport Forums so I have provided them here purely for the benefit of FM.net users.

These few pages represent a blog of my Forza thoughts and are organised according to the date on which the content was added. The latest content will always appear on the Home page but this will be migrated to monthly pages at the end of each month where it will be accessible from the navigator at the top of each page.

Following these remarks the latest content appears at the top of the page followed by successively older posts.

Be sure to also check out my FM6/FH3 Car Wishlist data sheets.

26.09.16: So, At Last It Has Launched

Forza Horizon Landscape

In hindsight I suspect that the developer's preference for a staggered release rather than a simultaneous world wide one could have been an indication of what was to come, but nothing could have prepared us for the deluge we encountered in the early hours of Friday the 23rd of September 2016.

I was one of the lucky ones. I refrained from interferring with my installation until about half an hour after the scheduled release time, so it was in pristine condition when eventually I pulled the trigger and launched the thing. But there were many others who were not so lucky.

It wasn't too bad on the Xbox Support forum, but there were very few PC players who were reporting that everything had gone well with the release, and a great many who were furious about the shambles they found themselves struggling to overcome.

And this was just the Early Access release!

Tommorrow the game will be released to Standard Edition players who potentially outnumber the Early Access players by a great deal. I can't help enjoying a little chuckle when I look across the plain of carnage before I check myself and try to help those forum posters whose problems look like having a possible solution.

04.09.16: September is Such an Exciting Time

Forza Horizon Landscape

It was announced a few days ago that Forza Horizon 3 had Gone Gold which meant that it was ready for manufacture, and which is pretty exciting news! But what has really blown me away today is the Backwards Compatible release of the original Forza Horizon on Xbox One. Not only can you play this little gem on your XBO, but you can also do it for free with Xbox's monthly Games With Gold.

There have been a few hiccoughs with this release with most drivers reporting a lot of pretty severe struttering and other server problems. I've had them myself so I know how disappointing this can be, but there may be a temporary fix which could hold you over until a patch can be released.

The fix involves a full system reset - hold the white X button on your console for about ten seconds until it shuts down, turn it off at the powerpoint for about five or ten minutes and then restart.

It worked for me, I've had no stutters after a half our of driving but more importantly I've had server connectivity. I've uploaded a photo and I've downloaded my Forza Rewards, so it's not all doom and gloom.

This is just a temporary fix with drivers on the forums reporting that eventually the stutters and server problems return, but it should give you some enjoyment in the mean time.

In any case you only have to wait another week or so and you'll have the Horizon 3 demo to play with. I can't help feeling excitement with all this going on, and I hope you all enjoy September just as I do.
