03.02.16: Man! I've Never Been So Rich

Forza 6 Stats Screen

I've been playing racing games for more than 15 years now and most of these games were based on some kind of in-game economy which the player could use to amass large amounts of cash and buy cars with. But to be honest I've never been a really hard core player so that, for the most part, I've had to struggle to save more than several million credits. That was before the advent of FM5 and the generosity of latter-day Forza economies.

With FM5 I was able to buy more than 300 cars and I still have about 20 million credits left. With FH2 I was able to buy all the cars in the game, including all the DLC, and I still have more than 15 million credits in the bank. But with FM6 I've been able to afford 218 very nice cars and I've got a staggering 60 million credits left to buy cars and upgrades with. I did think about buying a stake in Rupert Murdoch's media empire, but the game wouldn't let me. Cars, cars, more cars and upgrades. I was a bit disappointed actually - a sizable chunk of a media organization would have been nice.

Another player I read about on the forums has amassed more than 1.5 billion credits with which to buy cars and upgrades. Considering that the cost of buying all the cars in the game has been estimated at about 162 million credits the question arises about what to do with more than a billion in excess loot. Some say that the economy in FM6 is just too generous, but I disagree. I'd rather have too much money than not enough. I struggle to save money in the real world where I treasure my little nest egg, and I feel the same about the economy within a game.

I hope T10 maintain their generosity in future editions of the Forza franchise. I'm sure they enjoy watching players scramble to scrape up the little bits of treasure scattered all over the place.
